Hello writers! A quick break from our writing prompts to let you know that I also do script consultations, and I have time this week for a few script reads.
My qualifications: I’ve sold over 20 screenplays (12 have been produced, including Abandoned, Radio Rebel, and Another Cinderella Story); I’ve written 14 episodes of television (and received two Emmy nominations for writing); I’ve sold two pilots, as well as developed multiple TV shows with production companies; I received the Humanitas Award for screenwriting and the WGA Award for Best Children’s Script; and I’ve written 8 produced plays, which have garnered the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Play, as well as numerous other awards and nominations, including the GLAAD Awards, the Ovations Awards, and the Stage Raw Awards. During the pandemic, I created the Pop Prompts book series, which has spawned five books of journaling prompts that use music to help you tap into your creative unconscious mind. And I recently wrote two books for Simon and Schuster, Write a Romantasy: 99 Prompts to Craft a Tale of Heart and Heroism (coming out August 26), and Write a Dystopian Novel: 99 Prompts to Craft a Tale of Ruin and Rebellion (coming out November 25).
Let Me Help You Get Your Script Ready
Do you have a screenplay, pilot script, or play that you need feedback on?
I will read your script and send you 4-6 pages of typed notes within 7 days.
The notes will cover things like character arcs, logic, theme, tone, dialogue, formatting, and cuts.
I will give you my big picture thoughts about the whole script, along with specific page notes.
Then we’ll schedule a 1-hour zoom to discuss the notes in greater depth after you've had time to process them, and I'll answer any follow-up questions you have.
The consultation fee is $400 for a half-hour script (around 30 pages) and $500 for a full-length script (between 50-100 pages, plus $2 per page for anything over 100 pages).
If those rates are out of your price range, I am willing to adjust my rates on a case-by-case basis. Let me know what you can do and we'll see what we can work out!
