What is your writing goal for this week?

As always, we'll start with a short reading. This is a quote from an interview with Helen Hoang, talking about writing romance novels: 

“When readers trust that everything is going to be O.K. in the end, they open their hearts to experience a wider range of emotion, because they’re not protecting themselves from pain. This is something special to the genre.”

Of course, depending on what you're writing, sometimes you want to unsettle an audience -- but I like the idea of thinking about how to make our reader/audience trust us and feel like they're being taken care of.
